Insite Magazine Celebrates 25 Years in the Brazos Valley
The best GRAHIC DESIGN is the one that you don’t notice. Your eye may
be caught by an intriguing picture or interesting headline, but as
you are drawn through the story or section or magazine, what you
notice should be what you enjoyed reading. What you shouldn’t notice
are the elements that got you there – the typeface that was chosen
for maximum readability or the carefully calculated leading between
the lines that offers air to the words without letting them seem to
fly off the page.
Sure, you’ll notice all those things and more as we settle into
a redesign to mark Insite Magazine’s 25TH ANNIVERSARY. Everything
from our mast to the physical size is new, chosen not just to give
the magazine a fresh face, but to package Insite’s monthly stories
about local people and places in ways that are more appealing, easier
to read and more helpful when you go back to find dates, details and
other important “how to” information for enjoying life here in the
Brazos Valley.
Not everyone likes change. No worries. I REALLY ENJOY HEARING
WHAT YOU LIKE – AND LOATHE – ABOUT EACH ISSUE. I heard from one
longtime reader who didn’t like last month’s bedtime cover and lot’s
who really liked the sleep lab story. I was glad to hear from
everyone. It’s how I know a diverse cross-section of business owners
and shoppers, moms and dads, grandparents and grandkids ARE ACTUALLY
READING Insite Magazine. Which is what the last, and next, 25 years
are all about.
The question I have been ASKED MOST OFTEN over the last 25
years is: How do I get something in Insite Magazine? The short answer
is: You just have to GET IN TOUCH and for events, you have to MAKE
OUR MONTHLY DEADLINE. I can’t guarantee every story idea will make it
into print. But if you know about a local person or group that
contributes to the QUALITY OF LIFE we enjoy, and you’re wondering why
Insite has never written about it, tell me about it. You can CALL or
EMAIL with a brief description. I rely on people around the Brazos
Valley to let me know what’s new, what’s interesting and what’s
important so that Insite can let everyone else know.
So CALL (979) 823-5567. Or EMAIL agammon@insitegroup.com.
Insite’s MONTHLY DEADLINE is always the 5th of the month preceding
publication date. If you want to suggest a feature story, I need to
know at least six weeks in advance of an attraction or event. It’s
that simple.
And whether it’s the new typeface or the special 2009-10
Business Directory that’s in this issue, let me know what we GOT
RIGHT this month … and what we need to PUT BACK ON THE DRAWING BOARD.
